VENUE

TEMPMEKO & ISHM 2010 will be organized in Portorož, Slovenia, located on the Slovenian coast on the Adriatic sea. The conference will be held at the complex of Bernardin hotels, which offers the latest conference facilities and accommodation. There is also a large exhibition space, which will enable all the interested exhibitors from the relevant fields to present their products.

During the conference, most of the attendees will be housed at the same hotel complex, on-site with the meeting facilities. There are also several other possibilities for more economical accommodation.

The venue offers many possibilities for interesting cultural visits. The medieval coastal town Piran is just a 30-min walk from the conference venue. Also, the world famous Postojna cave and Lipica (Lipizzaner horse) are very near and represent worthwhile visits. Piran and Portorož are also good starting points to go to Salina Nature Park and to Skocjan carst caves (more wild, Unesco protected). Venice in Italy is only one hour and a half away by a speed-boat from the venue. These are just a few of the potentially interesting things to do, not only for delegates to the conference, but also for accompanying persons.

Getting there

By Air:
Conference delegates can fly directly to Ljubljana International Airport (~90 min from the venue), to Trieste International Airport (~45 min from the venue) or to either of the two Venice airports (~3 hours from the venue) from major cities around the world, and then take a drive by a conference centre shuttle bus service to get to the venue.
To order a shuttle from the airport, please do not forget to mark that when registering!

By Train and Bus:
The nearest railway station is in Koper. From there you can take a bus to Portorož. There is also a bus line from Trieste to Piran.

By Car:
There are two highways which both end in Koper (15 km away from Portorož). One is coming from direction of Ljubljana, second one is coming from Trieste in Italy.

You MUST buy a toll sticker (vignette) to travel on highways in Slovenia. Sticker prices depend on the time duration. They can be bought in other countries at gas stations before the Slovenian border or at the border and must be fixed to the left high corner of the windshield. The highways do not have toll booths but there are frequent checks and heavy fines for those travelling without the stickers.

Please, consult Via Michelin for more details.

Electricity supply

Mains electricity in Slovenia is a 230 Volts 50 Hz system. Slovenia uses the Europlug (CEE 7/16).
